Balloon Series: Seattle Skyline and the Virginia V

This piece is my homage to Seattle’s long maritime history and the ferries that have carried its people for well over a century.

The background is based on a photo I shot of a modern ferry crossing in front of Seattle’s iconic skyline. I then replaced the modern ferry with the historic ship Virginia V, the last remaining steam-driven example of the Mosquito Fleet which plied Puget Sound’s waters in the early 20th century. Moored on Lake Union, the 1922 vintage Virginia V still conducts cruises and also hosts events like Sea Chantey sing-alongs.

• Designed, produced, and hand-assembled in the Escape the Clouds studio.
• There is no A.I. used here. Each piece is based off drawings I’ve made or photographs I’ve taken, which I then adapt, recreate, and layer by hand in Illustrator and CAD programs.
• Each piece is signed and includes a free sticker.
